Leave No Trace Trainer Course

If you are interested in learning and practicing the seven Principles of  Leave No Trace Outdoor Ethics and teaching them to others or are an outdoor enthusiasts who wants to learn the skills needed to minimize their impact this is the program for you. Typical attendees include backpackers, Scouts, Scout leaders, camp counselors, outdoor groups/clubs, and families.

Date: Saturday 8:00AM September 15th to 3:00PM September 16th
Cost: $75, ($60 for Scouts)
Recommended Ages: Adults and students (age 14 & up)

Description: This course will allow participants to learn and practice in an outdoor setting the 7 Principles of Leave No Trace and prepare individuals to act as recognized Leave No Trace Trainers from the Leave No Trace Center for Outdoor Ethics. The training includes 16 hours of instruction and overnight camping in a wilderness setting. As part of the Trainer Course curriculum, participants will be required to teach one of the Leave No Trace principles to the group.  This course will begin with classroom instruction on Saturday.  From there we will travel by 15 passenger van to our trailhead (a one hour drive) and hit the trail.  We will backpack to our campsite (approximately 2 miles) and set up camp.  On Sunday, we will break camp, hike out and return to base.

Scout participants can earn 3 of the 6 requirements for the Leave No Trace Award.  This Leave No Trace Trainer Course is being led by a registered, trained Boy Scout leader. BSA Youth Protection policies will be followed.

Your registration fee includes meals, transportation to the trail head, team and personal equipment (if needed), all classroom materials, a Leave No Trace starter kit, and your first year Leave No Trace dues.  Payment is due at the time of registration.  Register at http://www.camptown.net/programs-register.html.

Gear: Please bring gear necessary for an overnight backpacking trip. A packing list will be provided upon registration.  If you need equipment, please make arrangements in advance with your instructors.
