Have you always wanted to go on a backpacking trip but just did not know where to start? This skills workshop will help you prepare for your first over-night or multi-day backcountry adventure. You will learn the beginning basics of trip planning, equipment, packing, menu planning, navigation, and personal hygiene.

Leave No Trace
You can protect our natural areas by learning low-impact techniques. In this awareness workshop you will learn the seven principles of Leave No Trace and practical skills to put into practice to minimize your impact on the wilderness areas that you visit. This workshop is facilitated by one of our Leave No Trace Master Educators.

Canoeing is a peaceful and traditional way to explore the wilderness. In this workshop, you will learn how to plan, prepare and carry out an overnight or multi-day canoe camping trip. Your facilitator is an experienced canoeist, camper, an American Canoe Association River Canoe Instructor with endorsements in Canoe Camping and Adaptive Paddling, and a Wilderness First Responder.

From Joshua Tree to North Cascades, Grand Canyon to the Great Smokey Mountains, our facilitors have visited 39 of our 62 National Parks. They will share some of their favorite destinations and tips to get the most out of your time in these magnificent areas.
